Behaviour

Cloverdale ESC has devised a behaviour policy that upholds the values of our school and aligns with Department of Education: Student Behaviour Policy (2016) and the Disability Standards for Education (2005). Cloverdale ESC seeks to provide students with a positive and engaging learning/working environment for all students and staff to uphold the school values of Growth, Achievement and Passion.

The school’s behaviour policy is based on information gathered from:

  • Team-Teach
  • Positive Behaviour Support
  • Positive Partnerships
  • TEACCH
  • Calm Classrooms
  • Classroom observations
  • Safe for Kids
  • Anecdotal notes

Our whole school Behaviour Matrix is used to explicitly teach each of the expected behaviours.

We believe that all behaviour has a purpose and that challenging behaviours may be due to responses to personal and environmental factors.

We believe that behaviour is a skill and can be taught, and that every student should receive the individual support needed to learn and maintain positive behaviour.

We believe that every student has the right to participate and contribute to a safe and positive learning environment.

We believe that the best behaviour intervention should be implemented prior to the escalation of behaviour.
